Is this class for you?

A stronger next step for serious salsa students

Salsa on 2 Musicality & Styling is not a beginner salsa class. It is an expansion track for dancers who already understand basic salsa vocabulary and want better rhythm awareness, cleaner timing, and a more connected New York style feel.

Best fit

You already know Salsa 3 material

You will get the most from this class if you already have solid basics, cross-body lead familiarity, and enough salsa vocabulary to focus on timing and feel instead of first-step survival.

Why dancers add On2

It changes how the music feels

Many dancers study On2 because it feels smoother, more grounded in the rhythm section, and especially useful for musicality, social dancing, and team development.

Good to know

Regular schedule, regular pricing

This is part of the normal DF class lineup. You do not need separate program pricing to join — just use the same regular class options you already use for weekly classes.

On1 vs On2

Same salsa language, different timing feel

Learning On2 does not mean you “lose” your On1. It gives you a second timing option and a different relationship to the music.

Salsa on 1

More direct and melody-forward

Break beats 1 and 5
General feel Sharper, more immediate, often the first timing many social dancers learn
What dancers notice A strong forward pulse that can feel energetic and straightforward
Best for Students building salsa vocabulary and dancers who prefer a more direct timing feel
Salsa on 2

Smoother, more rhythm-connected timing

Break beats 2 and 6
General feel Smoother, more suspended, often described as more musical or “inside” the groove
What dancers notice A strong connection to conga, bass, and clave phrasing, especially in partnerwork flow
Best for Social dancers, team dancers, and students who want deeper musicality and timing control
