Intermediate Bachata
Intermediate & Advanced Bachata Classes in Salt Lake City, Utah
Take your Bachata to the next level at DF Dance Studio. These classes are for dancers who already feel comfortable with timing, connection, turns, and social floorcraft. We focus on Sensual Bachata, Modern Bachata and Urban Bachata technique, musicality, and performance-quality movement—no partner required.
Placement & Prerequisites
- Comfortable with Bachata basics, timing, cross-body variations, outside/inside turns, and social etiquette
- Able to maintain connection, frame, and travel patterns safely on a social floor

What You’ll Work On at This Level
- Connection & frame refinement (elasticity, tone, and smooth weight transfers)
- Traveling patterns, wraps, redirects, and controlled rotation
- Musicality layering (phrasing, accents, micro-breaks, and dynamic contrast)
- Body movement & isolation pathways for leaders and followers
- Footwork/shines & styling that integrate cleanly with partnerwork
- Safety, consent, and communication for dips, head motions, and close connection
Sensual Bachata – Technique & Focus
Core Elements
- Body waves & isolation pathways (torso → hips → legs)
- Head rolls & head motions with proper preparation, support, and spotting
- Close-connection technique, framing points, and safe range of motion
- Lead/follow clarity for elastic redirections and smooth shapes
Musicality & Safety
- Phrasing, pauses, and controlled tempos for clean execution
- Consent & verbal/non-verbal communication before advanced elements
- Technique first, then amplitude—quality > quantity
Modern / Urban Bachata – Shapes & Dynamics
Pattern Vocabulary
- Direction changes, wraps, slides, and alternating hand connections
- Shadow & tandem positions, floating frames, and momentum control
- Syncopations & micro accents that read clearly to your partner
Styling & Performance
- Leader/follower styling loops that don’t interrupt lead/follow
- Traveling turns with clean spotting and controlled speed
- Floorcraft solutions for crowded socials and small spaces

Practice your new skills at our Latin dance socials—home of Havana on State. Expect plenty of Bachata alongside Salsa. Check the calendar for dates (typically the 2nd & 4th Fridays). Cover is usually $15/person.
